About the School
The Boston Renaissance Charter Public School's vision is to be an excellent public educational choice for families and a strong community member and education leader in the City of Boston. Boston Renaissance students will be nurtured by caring and skilled professionals, exposed to a rigorous academic curriculum, enriched by a variety of art forms, taught to embrace diverse cultures, and developed to become productive citizens in the 21st Century global community.
Boston Renaissance pursues their mission through the application of a whole-child approach to education- seeking to develop the whole child, starting first and foremost with the academic skills and knowledge outlined in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. The staff goes beyond core academics to provide a rich array of arts and music programs and support services. Programs include the renowned Voices of Renaissance Chorus, who have performed three times at the White House. Special partnerships with community members include, Vision and Dental services, which screens all students annually; Read to a Child, which improves and reinforces students' skill development and supplements classroom curriculum with relevant learning experiences; Junior League of Boston, which exemplifies positive role models in the community and gives students something to strive for.
School Performance
Student performance data displayed below is from Next Generation MCAS results. For more data on schools, please visit the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) website. For schools with multiple campuses, the data below represents all schools in that network, not just the single school, unless otherwise noted. If data is not shown, it is not available for that school (e.g. the school might not serve any tested grades, or be too small to publicly release its scores).
IMPORTANT NOTE: DESE did not issue school, district, or state accountability determinations for the 2019-2020 school year due to the cancellation of state assessments and school closures related to COVID-19. As a result, there is no student performance data available from the state for school year 2019-2020.

Support Options
-
To support students with special learning needs, Boston Renaissance utilizes inclusion classrooms in every grade level, co-taught with special education teachers (grades 1-6, and paraprofessionals in PK and K). Students requiring more intensive support are pulled for instruction in resource rooms, while special education teachers in three substantially separate classrooms provide instruction for students with the highest levels of need.
Services in speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, behavioral health and social-emotional counseling are all provided on site, by certified professionals on the staff. We are equally committed to providing high-quality English language instruction and support services to our students who are English learners (ELS). Boston Renaissance employs four full-time English as-a-Second Language (ELS) teachers, who report to the EL Coordinator.
-
Social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum and activities are incorporated into all aspects of the Boston Renaissance school day, from structured curriculum-based SEL lessons to the ways teachers work with students in everyday interactions. Whether it be during recess or core academic instruction, the goal is to instill in students the school’s core values - courage, curiosity, integrity, kindness, perseverance, and respect.
-
Boston Renaissance educates a diverse student population of English Language learners from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
